Eric Peterson for Mayor of Wyoming, MN PDF Print E-mail

ERIC PETERSON, the new mayor of Wyoming!

Thank you to everyone.  I am humbled by the trust and support I've received.  I'll do my best for our fine city, not changing who I am, and working hard with our new council to move our city forward responsibly.

Saint Paul Regional labor Federation AFL-CIO endorsed

Eric Peterson received the AFL-CIO endorsement from the St. Paul Regional Labor Federation as the candidate of choice for mayor of Wyoming, MN!

I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to listen to me at the screening, recommending me for endorsement, the effort and excitement that they have generated, and the offers of support. It's time to move Wyoming forward!

The Wyoming City Council is having a special meeting on Nov. 30 at 5pm to discuss the budget and the public hearing will take place at our Dec. 1 meeting.

Eric Peterson For Mayor of Wyoming, MN

I'm offering a choice for the citizens of Wyoming, MN.  I promise to do my best to bring a more open city government to the residents of Wyoming, actually listening to their needs and concerns, while providing full access to and allowing input into the  decisions of their government.  As your mayor, I will do my best to take the lead in bringing about a government that’s willing to hear, with respect, the voices of the residents of Wyoming and give serious consideration to what they’re saying.  We can’t shy away from courteous and respectful debate at our council meetings, as these discussions will help us weigh our options and make better decisions as a city.  We need a City Hall and Council that respectfully listens to and addresses concerns of our residents.Active Image

We can't be diving into projects using outdated studies, then trying to fund these projects on the backs of a few select citizens, knowing full well that our city will find itself a respondent in a lawsuit1.

I believe that our city needs a more calculated direction in development.  We need to work toward the creation of a community friendly downtown area, attracting new businesses and supporting our existing businesses with a theme that reflects the age, history, and tradition of our city.  We need to bring businesses into our city responsibly, without saddling the investment risk on a select few property owners.

While our city engineer has developed a formal plan for the repair, replacement, and maintenance of our streets. we lack any way to pay for it.  We, as a city, residents and government, need to have a discussion to try and figure out a way to implement this plan and bring our streets up to par, staying within our city's financial means and minimizing the financial burden on us, as taxpayers.

Having a brother in law enforcement2, I have great respect for municipal law enforcement needs.  I would be willing to listen to our citizens and police officers, finding out what their needs and expectations are for the operation of our police department.  We need to support these needs while keeping within the financial means of our city.  Safety and security are important to any community.

Making Wyoming a more desirable place to live benefits everyone.   We can attract businesses, lower our home owner's tax burden, increase property values and nurture pride in our city.

Let's think about Wyoming for a change!

1 The 257th Street project was funded by saddling properties owned by 3 families  with over $1,000,000 in assesments.  Wyoming now finds itself battling the decision as respondent in a lawsuit.

2 Eric's brother is Craig Peterson, long time captain of the Stillwater Police Department.
